The best thing about being divorced in my twenties is… I have the freedom to finally become comfortable in my own skin and not feel as though I have to be “molded” into what my ex wanted for his “trophy wife.” I am FREE!
I celebrated my divorce by… The picture for the blog is from my divorce party that my best friends threw for me! We had dinner and then went to my favorite bar where we danced the night away!
My divorce anthem is… “Wide Awake” by Katy Perry. Every word of that song fits perfectly with what happened in my marriage and I am so proud of how far I have come.
Advice for others just starting the divorce process: It takes time! You need to focus on that tiny light at the end of the tunnel and though there are days that you cannot see it or you may think it isn’t there at all, there is an end and you will reach it! Be strong even when all you want to do is crumble on the inside. CRY – you are allowed to cry, never feel like you aren’t being strong if you need to get out a good cry! It WILL help!
If I could trash my wedding dress in any way, it would be: I still haven’t decided what to do with my dress; it is still hanging in my mother’s closet. I don’t think I want to sell it because I do not want to pass on any bad ju ju but I also really don’t want it anymore. It is such a beautiful dress so I am open to suggestions!
